Scheduled eLearning this Friday, February 2, 2024. 📢 Attention students and parents! 🍎 Our school is embracing eLearning days to foster a culture of continuous growth and excellence. Here's why: 🌟 Professional Development: eLearning days allow our dedicated staff and faculty (our "staffulty") to engage in professional development. This means they're learning new teaching strategies, technologies, and skills to enhance your education. 🛠️ Skill Building: While our staffulty are upskilling, students get a chance to build their own skills in self-discipline, time management, and independent learning through eLearning tasks. 🔗 Community Benefits: By investing in our staffulty's growth, we're directly enhancing the quality of education. This benefits our entire school community, preparing students for a rapidly evolving world. 💡 Flexibility & Innovation: These days encourage flexibility and innovation in both teaching and learning, making our school a forward-thinking educational environment. Thank you for supporting this initiative as we strive to provide the best possible education for our students! #eLearning #ProfessionalDevelopment #SchoolInnovation 🎓💻📚

Vision Corner: New Year, Forward Momentum Vision Corner moves forward into 2024 with a new executive director and opening date. Union City, Indiana. (1/10/2024) Karen Lloyd joined the Vision Corner Learning Center team in Union City, Indiana, as the organization's founding executive director at the end of 2023. Vision Corner board vice president and superintendent of Randolph Eastern School Corporation (RESC), Aaron Black, affirmed that "hiring an executive director for Vision Corner was a strategic imperative for the City of Union City and Randolph Eastern. This role is not just about leadership, it's about collaboration, innovation, and strategic direction that aligns with Vision Corner's objectives with the community's aspirations." Lloyd is a Randolph County native and recently served as the regional director of the East Central Indiana Small Business Development Center (ECI-SBDC). Prior to that, Lloyd worked at the Ball State Entrepreneurship Center and in property management and sales. Lloyd earned a bachelor's degree in business as well as a graduate degree in executive development for public service from Ball State University. Lloyd's passion is "to connect, inspire, and support growth in others," which she will do through Vision Corner by synergizing her entrepreneurial spirit and desire to advance education transformation. In partnership with the Vision Corner Board, Randolph Eastern School Corporation, and the City of Union City, Lloyd is gearing up to make 2024 a monumental year for Vision Corner and our community. After being sparked by an idea by Union City Mayor Chad Spence and RESC Superintendent Black in late 2019, Vision Corner has continued to evolve from an inspired idea into reality. Vision Corner set out to become a symbol of downtown revitalization, economic development, and excellence in education. Since 2019, Vision Corner has also become a testament to the power of persistence and overcoming obstacles, continuing on the path, adapting as needed, and trusting the process. The Vision Corner team's ability to look forward, think outside the box, and lead with a progressive mindset has sparked collaboration within the region regarding career-focused education through partnerships with Reid Health, Ivy Tech, and Ball State University. "Collaboration will continue to be a key element to the success of Vision Corner and ultimately our community," says Mayor Spence. "The ability of a small community to maximize its resources and create synergy is paramount to not just survive but actually thrive in a global marketplace." Ultimately, Lloyd and all who are invested in Vision Corner will work to, as Superintendent Black attests, "transform Vision Corner into a beacon of progress, where education, community engagement, and effective resource management converge to create a brighter future for all." Lloyd and the Vision Corner team look forward to celebrating the grand ribbon cutting for Vision Corner with the community on Friday, April 12, 2024. Randolph Eastern Awaits the News on the $1 Million Dollar Yass Prize WASHINGTON, DC – Having completed a four-week Accelerator that culminated in their final pitch, the 33 Semifinalists for the prestigious Yass Prize are now just days away from the final decision, to be announced on Dec. 13 in New York City. The Yass Prize, in partnership with Forbes, is known as the Pulitzer of Education Innovation, and winning the coveted $1 million Prize or one of eight finalist awards each worth $500,000 creates an exponential impact on the students they serve. "The experience of the four-week Accelerator which gave the semifinalists access to industry leaders from business, education and policy, coupled with intensive collaboration with past and present awardees makes this effort distinctive and unique among education impact funds like ours," said Jeanne Allen, Founder and CEO of the Center for Education Reform who oversees the Yass Prize and related initiatives. “Each and every awardee is already providing impactful education and programs to break the cycle of ineffective education that fails too many students in this nation and picking just nine is an overwhelming task.” From Miami Mayor Francis Suarez to GSV Ventures Michael Moe and Michael Sorrell, President of Paul Quinn College, America’s oldest historically Black college west of the Mississippi, the 2023 Yass Prize cohort were challenged to think more expansively about reaching millions more students. In addition to the major prizes being announced Dec 13, Semifinalists will receive a $200,000 STOP Award. A new initiative, the Parents Choice Award, powered by the same technology used by American Idol, garnered over 65,000 votes from parents and others closest to the students of each Semifinalist. The winner of the Parents Choice Award will receive an additional $100,000 to use to improve programs that further benefit their community. The Yass Prize Semifinalists serve millions nationally. They include education providers who deliver AI-infused personalized learning in both traditional and new forms of schooling; small learning environments that give students curricular and program choice; lifesaving education and certifications for marginalized and at-risk populations; core content delivery and recruitment training; and empowering programs for underrepresented teachers, parents and school leaders. For more information on the 33 Yass Prize Semifinalists visit: https://yassprize.org/Awardees. ### The Yass Prize, powered by the Center for Education Reform in partnership with Forbes, is a rapidly growing effort to find, reward, celebrate and expand best-in-class education organizations from every sector. In conjunction with the $1 million Yass Prize, the STOP Awards initiative will distribute nearly $20 million to organizations in its network. Learn more at YassPrize.org.
