Hello UC families,
In 2023, your community was so welcoming to two PAX foreign exchange students. They had a great experience in your small community. Without volunteer host families, students simply cannot come on exchange, so as we look ahead to next year, we’re asking for your help. While there are many students still needing homes for next school year, we’d like to highlight a few:
Asmat is a 17 year old girl from Georgia. She likes volleyball, traditional dance, photography, swimming, hiking/backpacking, and Cooking. Asmat is a creative and joyful girl. She has been dancing since she was a child and enjoys expressing her emotions through music and movement. She loves capturing moments with her camera, especially nature scenes. Asmat lives with her parents and two younger sisters. Her mom works in a restaurant, while dad is a hotel security guard. She has a close bond with her sisters—one is sweet and thoughtful, while the youngest is funny and full of energy. In school, Asmat enjoys chemistry and English. She often spends time with friends, going on walks, watching movies, having sleepovers, and doing karaoke. Asmat is still exploring her future career but dreams of being successful and happy—possibly working in international relations or a laboratory. She is kind, curious, and excited to discover new things through her exchange year.
Ian is a 16 years old boy from Suriname. He enjoys soccer, volleyball, fishing, cycling, and gardening. At home, he helps out with various chores, including doing the dishes, vacuuming, sweeping, taking care of the pets, and working in the yard. Although Ian is an only child, he is very excited to have host siblings and looks forward to sharing new experiences with them. He’s excited to try new things in the U.S.--like joining a school sport and learning more about American culture and history.
Kateryna is a 16 year old girl from Ukraine. She comes from a family of three girls. She is the middle child. She enjoys school clubs and volleyball. She is a great cook, especially desserts. Kateryna loves to be outdoors taking walks and hiking. She is of Christian religion. She loves learning new things, about cultures, sports and more
Dusan is a 17 year old boy from Montenegro. He enjoys fishing, watching movies, student council, and spending time with family and friends. His mom has a demanding job, so he helps his mom around the house by helping with the cooking and cleaning. After church on Sundays, he and his mom always go to his grandma’s to spend the day with her. He enjoys a variety of sports but would really love to try playing American football while on program. More than anything else, Dusan is excited to meet his host family and make friends at school.
There are so many more to choose from. If you would like to learn more about hosting, please reach out.
