In the Independent Study WFW, students develop something of interest. Some of the projects included writing a story, creating a bookmark business, starting a podcast, and creating thematic playlists to improve school culture. There was a great discussion on how each student improved in our Profile of a Graduate competencies.

The third year of Workforce Wednesday wraps up today. This day is dedicated to hands-on, project and work-based learning to help our students grow in durable skills for college and careers. It has been fascinating to watch this initiative evolve and we are excited about its future as we continue to think about crediting learning EVERYWHERE it is happening.

The Union City FFA welcomed nearly 400 Northside Elementary students to the CTE Building on Thursday for our annual FFA Agriculture Experience.

Students in Pre-K through 4th grade enjoyed hands-on learning as they rotated through stations led by our junior high and high school students. They had the opportunity to meet members of our rabbit program, learn about plants, explore tractors and their differences, and color with soy-based crayons.

We are proud of our FFA students for planning and leading this event. It was a great example of student leadership, authentic learning, and older students creating meaningful experiences for younger students.

It was a fun day full of learning, connection, and celebration of agriculture at Union City!

As our valued apprenticeship partner, Reid Health provided students with an inside look at multiple career areas, including the urgent care, radiology, nursing, the emergency department, laboratory services, and the acute rehab unit. A big thank you to Anna Osborn-Brown, Michelle Holliday, and the entire team for their hospitality and for investing in our students’ future!
